Due to age and status, TVR 2's eligibility to race in some of motorsport's most prestigious classic car events has moved a step closer. With this in mind, and a genuine passion from TVR and motorsport fans to see the car race again, we are considering our options and hope to make an announcment soon.
TVR 2 will be appearing at Southwell racecourse for the Wonderland International Classic and Sports Car Show, on May 29th and 30th, 2010 (Bank Holiday weekend)
May 2010 Update
Following no.9’s accident at Castle Combe we have decided to build a totally new and updated Tuscan. The primary objective of this new build is to bring the aging icon Tuscan race car into the 21st Century while capitalizing on its unique and established format.
The cars new chassis will have an integrated roll cage featuring upgraded safety enhancements similar to those used in Nascar; it has been designed and fabricated by engineers who have a wealth of knowledge in this area.
The engine will be an AJP with more power and torque than the previous race engine. The chassis design will also allow for the fitment of alternative engines. The front and rear uprights have been designed and manufactured to accommodate the same bearing, which will give us a larger variety of wheel.
The body, while keeping the aesthetics of a Tuscan, will be much lighter. This is achievable through the use of aluminium and carbon fibre.
This is only a brief outline of our new project there's a lot more interesting developments on the cards and some really genuine professionals involved all of which will be acknowledged in due course.
As a Team we are still involved in various events this year (promotions/shows/track days etc, details will appear on the calendar page) but it will probably be next year before we are a 4 car race team. To summarise: Gary's race activities have been reduced this year due to a new business venture which is very time consuming, Phil sold his class B Tuscan and is having a AJP class A car built, Dean is selling his car but will do the odd race while it is still in his possession.
I am at the moment negotiating with various parties in respect of maximising TeamWrightRacing’s exposure - this in turn will give any sponsor wanting to join us all the benefits usually experienced by a much larger operation. This opportunity will be available next year, therefore if you think you may benefit from our setup, please contact me (Richard Wright) through the site (and don't forget we do a lot more than advertise!).
